KITECH, at the center of strengthening the technological competitiveness of SMEs
In Korea, SMEs account for 99% of the total number of manufacturing companies and employ 88% of the total workforce. KITECH was established to support Korean industry, primarily its SMEs. New technology development and SME support are the two axes around which KITECH evolves. We are determined to firmly establish ourselves at industry production sites and have been making strides in technological advancement through innovation.
In addition, we are determined to focus on fostering our strong research areas, to discover and support new production technology; to promote regional industry through active close-proximity R&D support; to reinforce the capacity for carrying out the national strategic industrial technology development project; and to build a joint research network with advanced technology nations.
In today’s world we have witnessed the latest upheavals in the technology R&D world along with growing globalization, and internal cooperation is becoming increasingly important as it is being proven that only joint efforts in R&D can bring outcomes justified in terms of time and cost. That is why we have structured an efficient global collaboration network with over 153 elite organizations from 23 nations.
Now celebrating the 20th anniversary of our inception, we are striving to become one of the world leading research institutes, comparable to Germany’s Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology.
By improving the global competitiveness of Korea’s SMEs, KITECH will put Korea on the world’s list of SME powerhouse nations. As SME’s global competitiveness equals our national competitiveness, KITECH will continue to lead Korean SMEs.
